Welcome to my online journal of my learnings and journeys.
Currently @ MiQ Digital Japan G.K., part of the pioneer account management team supporting the company’s expansion into the Japan market.
Previously @ GroupM Japan, helping advertisers achieve performance goals across the Japan market.
Recently @ Waseda University, studying Japanese to better understand the local advertising and agency landscape.
Before that @ Twitter (X), analysing and optimising performance campaigns, running A/B tests, and building sales enablement materials for advertisers.
Earlier in my career @ Circles.Life, redesigning e-commerce flows and supporting market launches.
I love ads. I have an immense love for them (yes, I do not have an ad-blocker). That love got me started building my technical skills as a creative at Mirum and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Later on, I found out: I love providing value to customers. That love was fostered through my marketing education with Singapore Management University. That got me chugging towards learning more about brand management at Nestlé, marketing communications at Changi Airport Group and programmatic advertising at Twitter.
Many experiences later, I realised: I love providing value to users too! The spark was found during my design thinking module and as a UX designer at Circles.Life. I was given a change to design with empathy and run AB tests on products that drive growth and conversion. I also had the chance to work on a new market launch. Design is about communication, about caring for your users, and was honoured to be provided multiple chances to do so.
In conclusion, I LOVE providing value to the end recipient. Be it marketing, design or user experience, I love working towards a win-win value-added outcome for everyone! This lead me to continuously work on projects like educating students about marketing, growing my technical skills through pro bono work, and part-time work in between my studies.
Took the leap of faith, and is in the midst of growing.

Created an e-magazine catered for undergraduates to understand how to navigate around College and the different facets of Marketing.
My other unexplainable obsession is children-friendly guides 🧸 (i.e. children museum, apps for children, children storybooks).
It always fascinates me to see how we break down complex theories such that even a child can understand. We cannot deny that adults are just children with responsibilities, no?

I personally gained a lot as a mentee and have learnt a great deal as a mentor, which is why I chose to continue doing this. I see mentorship as a way to meet others and gain from their experiences.
I’m currently tuning on to “Random Rewards” podcasts on Spotify where they talk more on Gamification! How can you translate elements that encourage motivation from a game into a business. Any queries or follow-ups, their twitter account (@randomreward) is really active!
Another two podcasts that I’m listening to is “Product Marketing Life” and “Product Marketing Insider”, both by Product Marketing Alliance (and on Spotify). If you are interested in Product Marketing, both would be a good listen!
I’m learning a bit on Human-computer interaction UX through Interaction Design Foundation, brushing up my SQL and Japanese studies. I’m also learning SEO through writing blog posts!
More than happy to chat on LinkedIn, or DM via Twitter (@nicolengyw) or Telegram (@nicolengyw).
